The Values That Guide How We Work

Our values define how Wings of Aid & Peace (WAP) seeks to work with communities, colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.

They guide our decisions, shape our organizational culture and help translate our humanitarian purpose into responsible action.

Our Core Values

الإنسانية

People and human dignity come first.

We recognize the inherent dignity and worth of every person.

Our work seeks to respond to human suffering, protect dignity and support people affected by conflict, displacement and humanitarian crises.

We aim to approach communities with respect, compassion and recognition of their rights, capacities and agency.

نزاهة

We seek to do what is right, responsibly and ethically.

Integrity is fundamental to building and maintaining trust.

We expect honesty, responsible conduct and ethical decision-making in the way we manage our programmes, resources, relationships and responsibilities.

We seek to prevent fraud, corruption, exploitation, abuse and other forms of misconduct and to provide appropriate channels through which concerns can be raised.

المساءلة

We take responsibility for our actions and decisions.

WAP seeks to be accountable to the people and communities affected by our work, as well as to partners and other relevant stakeholders.

We aim to provide appropriate information about our activities, listen to feedback, respond to complaints and concerns, monitor our work and learn from our performance.

Accountability means being willing to listen, explain, respond and improve.

Respect

We treat people with dignity and value their perspectives.

We seek to create relationships based on respect for people, communities and the contexts in which we work.

We value different experiences and perspectives and seek to engage with people without inappropriate discrimination.

Respect also means recognizing community knowledge and ensuring that humanitarian action does not unnecessarily undermine people's agency or dignity.

الشمول

Humanitarian action should recognize people in all their diversity.

Crisis affects people differently.

Age, gender, disability, displacement, social circumstances and other factors may influence people's needs, risks and ability to access assistance.

We seek to understand barriers to participation and access and to promote appropriate inclusion in our programmes and engagement with communities.

Community Participation

Communities should have a meaningful voice in actions that affect them.

We recognize people affected by crisis as active participants in humanitarian action.

We seek to listen to communities, understand their priorities and create appropriate opportunities for participation throughout programme design, implementation, monitoring, feedback and learning.

Community participation helps make humanitarian action more relevant, accountable and responsive.

Do No Harm

Our intention to help must never prevent us from examining the risks of our actions.

Humanitarian interventions can have unintended consequences.

We seek to identify and manage potential risks associated with our programmes and operations, including protection, safeguarding, exclusion, conflict and other possible forms of harm.

We aim to make decisions with appropriate consideration for the safety, dignity and well-being of affected people.

Collaboration

Stronger responses are built through responsible cooperation.

Humanitarian challenges are complex and often require the contribution of communities, civil society, humanitarian and development organizations, institutions and other appropriate stakeholders.

WAP values responsible collaboration where roles, responsibilities and shared objectives are clear.

We seek partnerships that can strengthen programme quality, local capacity, learning and humanitarian outcomes.

Learning and Adaptation

We learn so that we can improve.

Humanitarian contexts change, and organizations must be prepared to learn and adapt.

We seek to use community feedback, monitoring, evidence, experience and reflection to understand what is working, what needs improvement and how our approaches can become more effective.

We recognize learning as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time activity.

Putting Our Values Into Practice

Our values are intended to influence more than the language we use.

They should be reflected, as appropriate, in:

As WAP develops its institutional systems, these values provide a common foundation for responsible behaviour and decision-making across the organization.

Values Become Meaningful Through Action

We recognize that organizational values must be demonstrated through behaviour, systems and decisions.

WAP therefore seeks to build an organizational culture in which dignity is respected, integrity is expected, accountability is practiced, communities are heard and learning leads to improvement.

Where our work falls short of these expectations, appropriate feedback, complaints, reporting and learning mechanisms should help us identify concerns and strengthen our practice.

Our Values Guide Our Actions

Our values provide a foundation for how WAP seeks to serve communities, manage resources, work with partners and hold itself accountable. They connect our humanitarian purpose with the everyday decisions and behaviours required to pursue that purpose responsibly.
